Yea, 15 burpees a minute *sounds* reasonable. Until I realize that's still 1 burpee every 4 seconds and that, while doable, doesn't sound NEARLY as reasonable/sustainable...
Let me know when you do it again!

I hear ya Alix. I'm curious to try it; keeping a sustainable pace throughout. At 15 burpees per minute (*sounds* reasonable) you'd finish the WOD in 6:45, a very respectable time... Damn, I wasn't planning on doing this again any time soon but now I want to know...

I got 7:27 when I did it back in September. I did it exactly like you did and you're so right. Resting during it isn't worth it, it just prolongs the suck. I think I'll do it again in November and work to focus more on starting with a sustainable pace and keeping it going throughout instead of sprinting through the first 20 and then wanting to die.

Sorry man. Haven't actually tried these myself. They probably give you more of a psychological edge, as in, when the workout is really sucking, you'll look at your hands and start laughing... I've heard good things about the Rage grips (<a href="http://www.ragefitness.com/inventory.asp?Search=Rage%20Leather%20Hand%20Grips%20%28pair%29" rel="nofollow">here</a>) but that sounds synonymous with what you've got. I go with more of a finger grip and rarely have issues on pull ups (K2E or T2B is a different story). I'm no where near the 100 mark though.
<em>Tangent: </em>CrossFit Radio had an interview with one of the Canadian men who's going to the Games. According to his gymnastics coach a palm grip results in more power than a finger grip (in my mind somewhat akin to a false grip on a muscle up).

Interesting, I hadn't heard that hook grip will help you keep the bar closer to your body. Thanks Ben.

Think of it like swinging a golf club. You don't use the same grip as a baseball bat. Without it you're going to have issues keeping the bar close or you're not going as heavy as you probably can.

Do these really work? I got some leather gymnast straps for those WODs where I'm approaching 100+ pullups but I found that they still cause a lot of friction anyway.

I guess I've just settled for shaving my calluses and focusing on more of a 'finger' grip than full palm. Interesting find!
