Fran Tip #1 – Know the plan

Fran, Fran, Fran – The workout you love to hate.  Want to improve your time on the classic benchmark? Could there be a method to the madness other than just increasing your tolerance for pain and decreasing your need for oxygen?  According to JoJo Craig of CrossFit East County you need to plan your breaks.  Craig’s credentials?  His multiple sub three minute Fran scores, including a recent 2:45 PR, puts him ahead of a number of 2010 CrossFit Games competitors (average Fran time for male competitors in 2010 was 2:41).  JoJo’s advice to those about to undergo a Fran-ing?

“Do not put the bar down during the thrusters!  Drop the bar and you’ll have to clean it back up, wasting a lot of time and energy.  Rest as much as you need to during the pull-ups, where the penalty for taking a break is only a few seconds and little to no wasted energy.”

Give it a shot and let us know if it gets you closer to a new PR!
